Kenwood: Mayo Winery Food and Wine Pairing

One of our favorite Wine Country treats is visiting the Reserve Room at the Mayo Family Winery in Kenwood.

Executive Chef Billy Oliver does an amazing job with the seven course food and wine pairing. The menu changes every 8 weeks or so which ensures us a lovely surprise every time we visit. Yesterday, we spent a beautiful crisp January afternoon in the Valley of the Moon and stopped by the tasting room.

We were served generous pours of seven of Mayo’s terrific wines. Each was joined by a delicious tasting dish that really brought out the nuances of the wines served. After enjoying the seven-course pairing, our favorite was the Duck Confit Wrap with Boysenberry Essence which was paired with the 2005 Page-Nord Vineyard Syrah .

There was a second course but we ate it before we remembered to take a picture... quite a testimony to how good it was!

All of this is yours for only $25 per person. It’s no wonder that the Wall Street Journal deemed it “the single best deal in Wine Country…what an awesome experience.”
