Santa Rosa: Luther Burbank Home and Gardens

"I firmly believe, from what I have seen, that this is the chosen spot of all this earth as far as Nature is concerned." - Luther Burbank - 1875

We spent a couple of hours in downtown Santa Rosa. Two places that were particularly gorgeous today were Luther Burbank's home and gardens, and right across the street at Juliard Park.

Isn't it interesting that in a city like Santa Rosa, with a population of 167,ooo people, we can have a park as big and beautiful as this less than a block from downtown? I am always impressed that while we are growing into a larger city, we can stay dedicated to preserving our small town charm.

Luther Burbank is a big deal in Sonoma County and we enjoy celebrating the beauty that he helped discover. In his lifetime he created 800 new varieties of plants.
